BoatAffairs Top 10 places to charter in Asia
Asia and the Pacific is a vibrant vast region that is explored best from the vantage point of the ocean. Asia Pacific, sometimes known as APAC or even the Indo Pacific stretches from India down through nations boarding the Gulf of Thailand and continues across Indonesia to Australasia and then, finally, onto the myriads of Pacific islands that stretch right across to the coast of South America. BoatAffair Asia Pacific specializes in finding and designing the ultimate luxury yacht charter experience in this diverse and culturally rich region.
The Pacific and Asia have too many great places to visit so we have split them into two. Here is the list of best spots in Asia - Click here for our top 5 spots in the Pacific. It is also far too difficult a task to rank them so this is our list of the best spots in no particular rank.
Location 1. Ko Phi Pi in Thailand - Accessible Tropical Luxury
Thailand is one of the world’s most celebrated travel destinations in the world, with over 3,000 kilometres of tropical coastline that wraps around the calm Gulf of Thailand and the more adventurous Andaman Sea.
Home to more than 258 islands, Thailand offers iconic destinations including the famous island of Ko Phi Pi. Full of wordlclass beaches, clear waters, and luxurious five-star facilities Ko Phi Pi is a great offering for those searching for something similar to the Med but in Asia.
Ko Phi Pi is home to some famous anchorages such as Phi Phi Leh (recently re-opened). These spots offer easy access snorkeling and diving. Other areas such as Loh Dalum offer close access to nightlife and bars which can be visited from your tender. The accessibility is a real attraction here and you can maximise time onsite with minimal blue water cruising. We suggest Ko Phi Pi for shorter charters and to travel between September and April as this when the seas are calmest and there is no monsoon.
Location 2. Koh Samui - The Best of Thailand
Second on the Thailand list is none other than the famouse island of Koh Samui. Little introduction is needed here but given 99% of visitors see the island from land there is a lot to discover when you shift the vantage point to the water.
Koh Sumai really 'has it all'. Not only is the island full of great snorkeling and beaches but you can easily travel to nearby islands of Ang Thong and Koh Tao. BoatAffair also works with Yachts to provide access to hidden beaches and islets that are free of road access.
We advise travel between January and September to avoid the monsoon. The islands are protected from large swells but wind swells can wip in outside of those months. The sea is mostly beautiful and calm during those advised months (we watch conditions closely). We also suggest a minimum of a 5 day itinerary to ensure you can make the most of what the region has to offer.
Thailand truly brings a Mediterranean vibe to Asia, with calm seas, easily accessible islands, world-class dining options, and some of the warmest and most welcoming people you’ll ever meet.

Location 8. Singapore - Gateway to Asia
Sailing from Singapore to nearby islands offers a mix of quick getaways and longer coastal adventures. Popular nearby spots include Pulau Sibu and Pulau Tioman in Malaysia, known for their quiet beaches and clear waters, reachable within a few hours to a day. The Riau Islands in Indonesia, such as Batam and Bintan are even closer (Bintan is 5-6 hours away however).
